1. How do I receive pertinent information from the City of Madison?: Subscribe to “Notify Me” on the City of Madison Website at: Notify Me. Whether you’re interested in field status notifications, road and traffic information, city council blogs, calendar events or other city news, this platform offers numerous avenues for information. Residents can customize how they receive notifications via email or text, and sign up to specific categories of interest.

2. How can I learn more about what is happening in Madison City Government?: Use the many resources available on Madisonal.gov. The Transparency 101 page lists many resources available to our community to stay engaged. Can’t attend a Council meeting in person? View live and archived City Meetings as well as our public information channel announcements at this link, live Council Meetings are broadcast every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month. Our Notify Me portal on the main page allows our residents to sign up for news and updates for all areas of interest across the city. Whether you’re interested in field status notifications, road and traffic information, city council blogs, calendar events or other city news, this platform offers numerous avenues for information.

3. Where can I find the latest COVID-19 information for Madison County?: Visit the ADPH COVID-19 Dashboard Hub for up-to-date data in our state.

4. How do I learn more about our City Council?: Get to know your City Council members and view the City of Madison District Map on the City Council page.

5. Are City Council meetings televised?: Yes, the meetings are normally scheduled each 2nd and 4th Monday at 6:00 and held in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Residents are able to watch the meetings live on our public access WOW Channel 42 or via the web through our Live and Archived City Meetings page.

6. What City Departments is the Mayor responsible for?: The Mayor is responsible for ALL departments within the City. He hires and manages all department heads except for the Police Chief, Fire Chief, and City Clerk which the City Council is responsible for filling those positions and the Mayor manages them.

8. Can I make an appointment to speak with the Mayor?: Yes. Mayor Finley has set aside two hours every two weeks specifically for the community. To schedule an appointment simply call Kim Lindsey, Mayor’s Office Administrative Assistant at (256) 772-5603 or send an email to her at Mayors.Office@madisonal.gov and ask for one of the slated appointment times.

9. How do I get involved in the Community?: There are many outlets to be involved in the Madison community. Find volunteer opportunities in our area at JustServe.org, learn about our many Boards and Committees and apply to vacant positions to help across multiple needs in the City, or apply to one of our open employment opportunities. Get involved, stay informed, and contribute to this wonderful community!

10. How do I get a Blue Recycling Bin?: The Recycling Alliance of North Alabama has been a successful regional recycling program. Find more information or request a bin at this link.

11. Does the City of Madison manage/operate Madison Utilities?: Madison Utilities is not managed by the City; it is operated autonomously. Contact their office at 256-772-0253 or visit their website.

12. How do I gain information about the Madison Chamber of Commerce?: The Madison Chamber of Commerce exists to connect you with businesses and opportunities in our Madison community. Visit the MCC website at www.madisonchamber.com to discover the connected business members, check out the upcoming special events and view the MCC Community Calendar which highlights activities that makes Madison unique.

13. What is Madison’s population?: The official 2020 census listed Madison's population at 56,933, growing nearly 14,000 people in the last decade with the 2010 census numbers recorded at 42,938.
