Teddy Powell

Teddy Powell is a native of Birmingham, AL and attended Minor High School in Adamsville. First in his family to attend college, he obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration and Finance degree from Birmingham Southern College and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Alabama in Huntsville while balancing both career and family. In addition to his current experience as a Budget Analyst with the Department of Defense, he has worked for the banking industry in bond services. He has also served as a city employee for the Hueytown Revenue Department.

Teddy’s first job, at age 12, was carrying shingles onto roofs for his grandfather and he would later work under his father’s direction in the construction industry. Teddy also worked two jobs, at a warehouse and at a convenience store, in order to attend college and raise a new family. He has acquired, developed and sold several businesses prior to his current position with the DoD.

Teddy has been a resident of Madison for 12 years has been married to Rikki Powell for 11 years. Rikki, a graduate of Auburn University, has been a resident of Madison/Huntsville for 20 years and currently works for the Department of Defense. They have three children, Jackson, Morgan and Riley, who have attended Madison City Schools and are proud residents of Madison. The Powells attend Madison United Methodist Church located in Downtown Madison.

Teddy has always been involved in construction and enjoyed serving on the Madison Station Historic Preservation Commission from 2012 to 2016.  Along with his Commission involvement, Teddy has made capital investments in helping to restore Madison’s historic district through restoring an old home and helping others in the district make improvements.

Teddy was elected to represent Madison’s District 3 in 2016, and his priorities include a continued emphasis on our school system, strategic economic development, continued infrastructure development, preservation and revitalization, and business expansion. He currently serves on the Finance Committee, the Industrial Development Board, the Zoning Board of Adjustments and Appeals and is the Council representative to the Historic Society.
