The City of Madison has begun the process of spraying an approved environmentally friendly herbicide as part of an ongoing flood prevention program. The herbicide (tinted blue to indicate the areas sprayed) will be spread on underbrush, along the streams in easements and right-of-ways. This will reduce resistance of water flow during periods of flood events in creeks, helping excess water to drain more freely and lowering the water elevations in areas of flood risk.
The spraying program will extend to the end of the week, weather permitting.
The map indicates areas where flood control spraying will occur (refer to the legend – light blue lines).
