The City of Madison will host the annual Stars and Stripes Celebration tomorrow, July 4th at Dublin Park beginning at 2 pm. Officials ask that residents and visitors park at Bob Jones High School to be shuttled to the event. Shuttles will start running at 1:45 pm, with handicap parking available at Dublin.
Surrounding roads may experience traffic delays throughout the day. Crestview Drive from Old Madison Pike to Ashley Drive will only be open to local residents. Madison Police Department will have manned barricades at both ends and request no cars be parked on the street due to emergency vehicles using Crestview to get to Dublin Park if needed during festivities. Roads will open directly after the event finishes.
City Officials will keep citizens informed in emergency situations or weather threats. Updates will be posted on www.madisonal.gov, as well as on social media and sent via email and text to our subscribers.
"Safety is so important to us here. We look at the weather plans, as sad as it is to say, we consider active shooter situations, health concerns and lost children. Public safety is our number one goal." Says Gayle Milam, City Event and Volunteer Coordinator.
Fireworks are expected to start at 9 pm. We wish all a happy, safe and fun 4th of July.
