[ARCHIVED] Madison City Schools - 2 Hour Delay on Thursday, Jan. 7th, 2015

Madison City Schools will have a two hour delayed start tomorrow (Thursday) morning. We have been in regular contact with our local National Weather Service office since yesterday. The forecast has not improved, and we remain under a wind chill advisory until 9 a.m. tomorrow.
We understand that school delays or cancellations can create a hardship for many households. We base such decisions on child safety, and we use the most current data available to guide us. In this instance, the NWS hourly projections for tomorrow now show wind chills at -2 degrees at 7 a.m. By 9 a.m. those are projected to be 7 degrees (which is above the criteria for an advisory). One hour later it will feel like a balmy 17 degrees.
Even with this delay, temperatures will be very cold. Please make sure your children dress appropriately, and monitor them at bus stops. Buses will run their regular routes on a two hour delay. All building openings, drop off procedures, etc., will also be delayed two hours.
Thank you for your patience and continued support.
