The City of Madison has been prioritizing infrastructure improvement projects including the Balch+Gillespie Roundabout, Hughes Road widening, and also Sullivan Street widening.
We are pleased to announce the Balch+Gillespie Roundabout is now open to traffic. As a reminder to drivers:
-Slow down as you approach the roundabout.
-Look to your left before entering the roundabout and yield to any oncoming traffic, entering to the right.
-Engage your turn signal as you approach your desired exit.
Along Hughes, pavement tie-ins to the neighborhoods on the East and West side are being addressed. East side storm pipe revisions and utility conflicts are also being evaluated. Also, traffic signal installation at Eastview has started. Currently, contractors are working on foundation placement for the new signal poles.
The Sullivan street sidewalk along the West side is currently being installed, as well as ADA ramp locations are beginning to be installed along the West side, and grading work has started along the west side sidewalk near Kyser intersection.
We thank our community for being patient through projects that will have a lasting positive impact on traffic flow within city limits. Please contact the Engineering Department with any further questions.
