The City of Madison Parks and Recreation department is seeking to hire more lifeguards for the 2021 summer season. Due to staffing shortage at Dublin Park, nearly half of the scheduled swim lessons will be canceled, and the outdoor pool will also be closed to the general public on Thursdays.
While the staffing shortage has already impacted the summer season, aquatics staff hopes to fill the gap in the coming weeks. Interested candidates may apply at madisonal.gov, and certification training courses will be available at Dublin Park, if applicants are not already certified. Certification is valid for two years and cover skills including water rescue, CPR, the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and First Aid. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age.
For more information, or to schedule a certification training please contact the City of Madison's Aquatics Director, Chris Lund at Chris.Lund@Madisonal.gov or call 256-772-2560.
