On Tuesday, January 28, 2020 from noon until 1:00 pm, the Alabama League of Municipalities will be conducting a webinar for potential candidates for municipal office. The webinar is entitled “What Every Candidate Needs to Know About Municipal Government”. This webinar is designed to inform candidates for the upcoming municipal elections about the limitations and restrictions on municipal power. It is not intended as a guide for qualifying and running for municipal office. Candidates must understand the extent of the authority a municipality may exercise before making the decision to run for office. Also, an understanding of these laws and functions can help candidates avoid future embarrassment upon discovering that a campaign promise can’t legally be fulfilled.
There will be a fee of $37 for this webinar.
