Special Operations Division

Responsibilities

The Special Operations Division supports patrol operations by:

• Developing special tactics and deploying specially trained personnel in unusual law enforcement situations and events
• Assisting Shift Commanders with selective traffic enforcement and accident investigation
• Coordinating with other agencies and civilian organizations concerning special events and potential catastrophic situations

Units

The Madison Police Department's Special Operations Division is comprised of the following units:

• Field Training Officer (FTO) Program
• School Resource Officers
• Traffic Safety Unit
• Training Unit
