School Resource Officers

About the Program

The School Resource Officer (SRO) Program is a collaborative effort by certified law enforcement officers, educators, students, parents, and the community to offer law-related educational programs in the schools in an effort to reduce crime, drug abuse, violence, and provide a safe school environment.

About the SRO

An SRO with the Madison Police Department arrives daily at Madison City Schools in marked police cars. Armed and in uniform, the SRO is in the school before classes start to learn of potential problems from students and staff, as well as to provide a reassuring presence.

Madison Police School Resource Officers are engaged with both students and faculty to provide for a safe and healthy learning environment. SRO's are making connections and building positive relationships with future leaders today. School Resource Officers are problem solvers who, not only perform a law enforcement function, but act as coaches, mentors, and role models for our students.
