Communications

The Communications Division is comprised of highly skilled Public Safety Dispatchers responsible for the processing of emergency and non-emergency calls for service for the nearly 60 thousand residents of the City of Madison. Dispatchers initiate all Law Enforcement, Fire/Rescue and Medical response to calls for service ensuring citizens receive the help and assistance they need any time day or night.
 
Our Public Safety Dispatchers are assigned to work within the Huntsville-Madison County Joint 911 Center. This facility was opened in 2020 and is the largest of its kind in the State of Alabama at over 30,850 square feet. The equipment dispatchers utilize is state of the art, including text to 911, street level GIS/GPS locations of callers on all incoming 911 lines, and a computer aided dispatch system which works hand in hand with the City of Huntsville and all Madison County agencies to ensure accurate and efficient deployment of responders to critical calls for service.

Communications is located in the Huntsville-Madison County 911 Center at 5827 Oakwood Road NW Huntsville, AL 35806. The Huntsville-Madison County 911 Center is a joint Communications Center comprised of Communications Personnel from the City of Madison, the City of Huntsville, and Madison County.
