The Human Resources Department is committed to hiring, compensating and developing the city's workforce to ensure its ability to serve the city's citizens and make Madison one of the most livable cities in the South.
The Human Resources Department develops and
administers a wide range of human resources policies, procedures,
and programs in the following areas: recruitment and selection
of all City employees, equal employment and affirmative action,
classification and compensation, employee records, employee
benefits, employee relations, tuition assistance, health, safety
and worker's compensation, and organizational development and
training, as well as overseeing the strategy to move the organization
toward the implementation of an improved performance management
system, high standard job descriptions, and updated policies
and procedures.
