Specific duties of the job:
Employee will be expected to operate primarily light equipment such as dump trucks and light tractors with appropriate implements to wash mud and debris from the streets, flush pipes and drains, clean out ditches, inlets and storm drains, perform trash pickup, clear fallen trees and limbs from streets, operate a jackhammer to break up concrete and asphalt, dig trenches to lay storm drains and sewer pipes, and to operate medium or heavy equipment under supervision.

Skills candidate must have:
Employee must have good driving record; skilled at operating light construction and maintenance equipment. Employee must also possess strong communication skills along with the ability to follow directions, display dependability, and handle multi-tasking and to follow tasks to completion.

Education candidate must have:
Employee should have High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; verbal skills to communicate information to supervisors and co-workers, writing skills to complete routine forms and records, reading skills to read house numbers, work orders, instructions and maps, math skills to count and perform simple mileage calculations, listening skills to follow verbal instructions and defensive driving skills .

Experience candidate must have:
Employee must have a good driving record and a valid Alabama driver’s license. Experience operating dump trucks, light tractors and in performing equipment maintenance and herbicide application functions preferred.

Physical requirements for this position:
Employee must see well enough to read maps, house numbers and safely operate equipment; hear well enough to hear someone speak from 20 feet away and to hear strange equipment noises; strength to lift 100 lbs; physical dexterity sufficient to operate levers, gears, etc.; and body mobility to climb on top of or crawl under various types of equipment.
