Redevelopment Updates - Updated 2/15/2010
Sunday, February 13th from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, there will be an open house at the Spencer Trace Apartments formerly known as Paradise Apartments. This open house is primarily to show the former residents, who have the option to reoccupy the property, the newly renovated model apartment. This will also be an opportunity for those residents to sign up on the waitlist so they get priority when the complex is completely renovated.
City officials will be meeting with the developer on Wednesday to get an update on the plans to complete the renovation.

Redevelopment Updates - Updated 7/27/2010
A ceremonial ground breaking is planned at the property towards the end of August. The exact date for the ground breaking for Spencer Trace Apartments will be posted as soon as plans are finalized.
There is a website for Spencer Trace under construction.

MEDS started work on June 11th with the following initial tasks:
1. Performing mold remediation.
2. Cleaning the site and preparing for landscaping.
3. Stripping apartment of bad appliances, floor covering and other fixtures that will not be retained.
4. Ordered new signage
They are also beginning to advertise for tenant applications to build a waiting list.
Sale of Property
On Thursday, December 17th, The City of Madison signed the official documents selling the Paradise Apartments to Management Enterprise Development & Services, Inc. (MEDS).
The next step is for MEDS to deliver a full redevelopment plan for the property. That plan must be approved by The City and HUD, at which time rehabilitation will begin.
