How to Participate
To Become a Participant
Potential candidates for the Citizen Academy must meet the following criteria:
  • Minimum age of 19 years
  • Live in the City of Madison
  • No prior felony convictions
  • No misdemeanor arrests within one year of application
  • Submit a completed application three weeks prior to the start of the academy 

The Chief of Police may waive any of the requirements upon review and approval. Interested community members must complete an application form and are selected by police staff. Enrollment is limited to approximately 40 students per academy. The free class will be held once a week on Thursday night at the Municipal Building (City Hall).
