The Planning Department is responsible for:
- Updating the City's Comprehensive Plan and making recommendations to the Planning Commission and City Council concerning all:
- Annexations
- Rezoning
- Subdivision (Residential & Commercial)
- New Development
- Other development proposals
- Coordinating the work of the Technical Review Committee, an interdepartmental committee that reviews all proposed development prior to action by the Planning Commission
- Economic Development efforts of the City including retail and commercial business attraction and busines retention and expansion
- Reviewing all commercial permits for zoning compliance
- Approving all home occupation, sign, and other zoning permits
- Providing staff support for many boards and committees, including the:
