Citizen Police Academy
Together We Can Make A Difference !!!
About the Program
The Madison Police Department's Citizen Academy will provide you with a behind the scenes look at the Madison Police Department. The Program offers a balance of lecture and hands-on activities designed to teach basic policing techniques.
The free 7-week academy is designed to give an overview of the policies and procedures of the Madison Police Department. This interactive course is taught by police personnel.
Participants can ask questions and share their concerns directly to the individuals responsible for enforcement. The Department hopes there will be a greater awareness and understanding of law enforcement's role in the community through participating in the Citizen Academy Participation.
Participants will tour the Police Department, learn about basic booking procedures and explore other areas of crime prevention and criminal investigations. Participants will be given the opportunity to role-play scenes as police officers. Participants will learn about community involved problem solving strategies, patrol procedures, and participate in a firearms safety program.
