Where do we stand on the Mayor’s 10-year growth plan?
The Madison City Council funded the Madison Growth Plan in late 2010. An outside consultant, Urban Collage, led the 10-month development of the plan. Multiple community meetings were held along with online surveys to engage our community and understand what our citizens considered their top priorities in managing our incredible growth. Are City Council meetings televised?
Yes, the meetings are normally scheduled each 2nd and 4th Monday at 6:00 and held in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Residents are able to watch the meetings live on Knology Channel 42 or via the web at

What City Departments is the Mayor responsible for?
The Mayor is responsible for ALL departments within the City. He hires and manages all department heads except for the Police Chief, Fire Chief, and City Clerk which the City Council is responsible for filling those positions and the Mayor manages them.

How do I request the Mayor to attend or speak at my event?
Please e-mail the

with complete information; Organization, date, time, location, and purpose of the event along with your name, organization, and contact name and telephone number. You will receive a reply via email or phone to let you know if the Mayor is available.

Can I make an appointment to speak with the Mayor?
Yes. Mayor Trulock has set aside two hours every two weeks specifically for the community. To schedule an appointment simply call Kim Lindsey, Mayor’s Office Administrative Assistant at (256) 772-5603 or send an email to her at

Does the City of Madison manage/operate Madison Utilities?
Madison Utilities not managed by the City; it is operated autonomously. Questions and concerns can be address with their General Manager, Ricky Pounders, at 256-772-0253.

Why is Knology the only cable company in Madison?
The City of Madison welcomes any/all cable providers that would like to support our citizens. Each company is required to pay a 5% franchise fee to access/utilize our right of ways. Presently Knology is the only cable company that has invested in Madison.
