John Seifert was born and raised in Ozark located in the southeast corner of Alabama. John is a 1996 honor graduate of Carroll High School and received a full academic scholarship to attend Enterprise State Junior College (ESJC). After earning two (2) Associate degrees, John transferred to Auburn University to pursue his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and eventually Master of Science, graduating in 2000 and 2002 respectively. Upon graduation from Auburn, John moved to North Alabama to begin his professional career as a defense contractor. John began work as a thermal analyst at Miltec Corporation in August of 2002 and continued work there for 12.5 years until moving over to Scientific Applications International Corporation (SAIC) as a Senior Program Manager for Army programs.
Upon moving to the north Alabama in 2002, John enjoyed volunteer coaching Pop Warner flag football in Madison. John continued volunteering through additional football coaching and stints as a travel baseball coach. John continues to coach youth sports and is a current Madison Baseball Association coach. John also volunteers within the Asbury United Methodist Church’s childrens’ ministry, Columbia Elementary School’s Watch Dads of Great Students (D.O.G.S) program and Asbury United Methodist Church’s sponsored Cub Scout Pack 351, Den 8 assistant den leader. John has also lead his Walden Preserve neighborhood’s Homeowners’ Association’s Covenant Review Committee for several years previously.
John enjoys the city of Madison and wants to see it thrive and focus on the following priorities.

John has been married to Heather Hulsey Seifert, originally of Enterprise, AL, since 2003. In January of 2009, they were blessed with the birth of their only child, John Drew Seifert III. He goes by Drew to avoid the “Big” and “Little” name scenario. Heather is an elementary teacher within Madison City Schools and Drew currently attends Columbia Elementary School.
John was elected to the Madison City Council in 2016. He currently serves on the Recreation Advisory Board, Planning Commission, Senior Center Advisory Board, Top of Alabama Regional Council of Governments and is the Council Representative to the Parks & Recreation Department and the Planning/Economic Development Department.
