Detective Christie Gover began her service with the City of Madison in February 1999, when she was hired as a Patrol Officer and assigned to the Patrol Division. Gover served as a Patrol Officer until 2004, when she was promoted from Master Patrolman to the Investigations Division as a Criminal Investigator. In September 2005, she was tasked with beginning the first Crime Scene Unit at Madison Police Department. After four years as a Crime Scene Investigator, she will resume the duties of a Criminal Investigator in October 2009.
Since March 2001, she has been an instructor for the Rape Aggression Defense (R. A. D.) Systems Basic Physical Defense course, which is sponsored by the Madison Police Department. In August 2008, she became an instructor for R. A. D. Systems Advanced Physical Defense course. Courses are held annually and are free to women 12 and up.
She is a 1996 graduate of Gadsden State Community College, with an A. S. degree in Criminal Justice.
She is a 1998 graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, with a B. S. degree in Criminal Justice.
