A Little About Councilman Tommy Overcash  

Tommy Overcash was born and raised in Starkville, Mississippi. His parents Jean and Martha Overcash were educators, his father a Horticulture Professor at Mississippi State University and his mother an English teacher in the Starkville City School System. Tommy and Debbie have known each other since childhood and married in Starkville in 1980. The Overcashes have three sons; Cameron a senior at the Athens State University, majoring in Elementary Education; Chandler in fifth year Architecture at Mississippi State University; and Mason working on a Masters in Art Education at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. 
Tommy holds a Bachelors Degree from Mississippi State in Electrical Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration in Engineering Management from the Florida Institute of Technology. Tommy transferred from Ft. Worth Texas to Madison County in 1980 and is presently a Senior Systems Engineer with SyColeman in Huntsville.
The Overcash family moved to Madison in 1985 (well most of the family, Chandler and Mason were born three weeks after the move) Tommy has been an active volunteer in many church, school, scouts, sports and civic areas. The Overcashes are members of Asbury United Methodist Church, where Tommy has served on the Finance Committee, the Youth Leadership Council, Elementary Sunday School Teacher, and Prayer Breakfast Team Leader.  He is also on the Board of Directors of the Asbury Community Thrift Store.
Tommy and his sons are all Eagle Scouts. Tommy has been active in Scout Troops most of his life, as a scout then as a Cub Scout Leader and Boy Scout Assistant Scout Master for 9 years. Tommy is a charter member of Boy Scout Troop 350, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Tommy has also been actively involved with the Madison County and Madison City School Systems where he has been a long time PTA member and volunteer, as well as a baseball, soccer and band booster club member. Tommy has volunteered with local Dixie Youth and Babe Ruth Baseball teams, serving as Assistant and Head Coach as well as an officer on the Dixie Youth and Babe Ruth Baseball Boards for 5 years. Tommy also worked with AYSO and Club soccer teams.  The Overcash family was selected Madison Family of the Year 2001.
