A Little About Councilman Steve Haraway

Steve Haraway was born in Rogersville, AL and moved to Madison with his family in 1973. He attended elementary and middle school in Monrovia and graduated from Bob Jones High School. Steve is the oldest of 4 brothers and understands how to give and take to accomplish goals.
He and his wife Donna were married in 1992. They have two boys, Dustin and Dylan who attend Madison City Schools where they are both on A honor rolls and are active in football, basketball and baseball.

After attending Calhoun Community College, Steve started his working career in sales and marketing. He worked for Hall-Mark Electronics and Wyle Electronics during a 17 year career. He left Wyle in1999 as sales manager to start his own business. He and his wife started their small excavation business which has 9 employees. After traveling and being on the road, Steve wanted something to keep him at home each night so he could devote more time to his family and coaching youth sports in Madison. He has coached youth baseball and football since 1999.

Steve was a volunteer fireman for the city for 14 years serving in various capacities. He is a past member of the Madison Athletic Association and has served on the Recreation Advisory Board. He has served on the Finance Committee and currently serves as Council President and is Vice Chairman of the Water and Wastewater Board. He and his family are members of Asbury United Methodist Church.

Steve was elected to City Council in 2004 to represent District 2. This district covers the Western boundary of the city and into Eastern Limestone County. It also runs along Hwy 72 on the north and Madison Boulevard on the south. Over his many years as a resident of Madison, he has watched the city grow from a town of 3000 to over 40,000 people. Councilman Haraway was instrumental in getting numerous road projects moving forward along with new traffic light installations to provide safer access to busy roads. He has worked diligently at bringing our city council together to work and provide for the common good of Madison, AL.
