August 12th City Council funded three more projects as part of the 7-year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) including:
• Programming and design development phases of Madison Library Branch Renovation and
Expansion Planning;
• Balch Road Widening & Lane Improvements from Browns Ferry Road to Gooch Road
(Engineering Design Only); and
• Space needs assessment programming and 20-year+ life cycle planning for City Hall and its
accessory facilities (100 and 174 Hughes Road).
The approvals follow on previous efforts including the Madison Growth Plan, adopted in January of 2012, that recommends investment in the City's key development areas, as well as parks and recreation. Mayor Trulock and the City Council have worked to establish a list of CIP projects that address maintaining and enhancing Madison's recreation offerings, economic development efforts, traffic flow and public safety, among other community resources such as the library.
Previously, City Council approved other CIP projects which are currently under design or construction (estimated completion in parentheses below) .
Among those funded are the following:
- Improvements to County Line Road (2013/2014)
- I-565/County Line Road interchange (2014/2015)
- Wall Triana Bridge south of Eastview (2013)
- Hwy 72 Lane Improvements near hospital (August 2013)
- Downtown Phase II & III Main Street & Martin Street Improvements (2013-2014)
- Browns Ferry at Wall Triana right turn lane northbound
- Mose Chapel Drainage Improvements & Widening
- Madison citywide Parks and Recreation Master Plan (2013)
- Market Feasibility Study on multi-sport Recreation Campus (2013)
