Elections are a year away and campaign signs are beginning to appear around town. In order to preserve the aesthetic beauty of Madison and to prevent street-side clutter, the City of Madison encourages all candidates to be prudent by following the rules & regulations regarding placement and size of signs.
Permit application and an annual $25 permit fee should be submitted to the Planning Department before placing signs inside the City limits. For more information please call the Planning Department at 256-772-5630. To report signs that cause a visibility problem at intersections, please call Code Enforcement at 256-772-5644.
Existing Signage: Please check the rules & regulations and be sure all current signs comply. Code Enforcement will allow for changes to be made through Dec 31st on existing signs. On and after January 1, 2012 all sign owners with signage not properly following placement rules regarding size and location will be subject to appropriate fees.
The City of Madison would like to thank all of those who have signs in compliance.
