[ARCHIVED] Madison Now Accepting Online Filing of Taxes

Effective April 1st, the City of Madison began utilizing the Alabama Department of Revenue's Paperless Filing and Payment System for filing and payment of local sales, use, rental and lodging taxes.

With the State of Alabama now requiring online submissions, entities that conduct business within the City can now use the same system to quickly file and submit their collected taxes.

"Extensive testing has been conducted and the process is going very smoothly", states Revenue Director Cameron Grounds.

Effective July 1st, the City will no longer be automatically mailing preprinted tax returns to all taxpayers. Preprinted returns will only be mailed to taxpayers upon request. Blank sales, use, rental and lodging tax returns may be downloaded from the Revenue Department site at http://www.madisonal.gov/Revenue.

By moving to online filing and eliminating the mailout of over 2800 sets of preprinted tax forms, the City will significantly reduce costs while providing an elevated level of service to its customers.

To file a tax return, go to http://www.revenue.alabama.gov/ and add City of Madison as a locality.
