[ARCHIVED] Trash Pandas Knocking Stats Out of the Park

Rocket City Trash Pandas

The Rocket City Trash Pandas have been reaching record statistics in their inaugural season with average home game attendance nearing 6,100, leading all of Double-A teams and ranking 4th in Minor League Baseball behind only Triple-A teams Nashville, El Paso, and Las Vegas. The total announced attendance sits at 158,289 through only 26 of home opening games.


"We are incredibly proud of the Rocket City Trash Panda players and employees who have diligently worked to create a successful season. Patrons can expect exciting games and entertainment, and it's fantastic to see our community rally behind this team," says Mayor Paul Finley.

As a team, the Trash Pandas have hit 88 home runs over their first 58 games, far and away more than any other team in Double-A South, with the Birmingham Barons coming in 2nd with 69 home runs. Pitching staff have recorded 606 strikeouts so far this season, also the most in Double-A South. The Trash Pandas have also earned bragging rights with 4 of the league's top 10 home run hitters; Outfielder Izzy Wilson and third baseman Mitch Nay are both tied for the Double-A South lead with 14 home runs. Ibandel Isabel is close behind with 11, and Orlando Martinez has earned the team 10 home runs. First baseman David MacKinnon currently leads Double-A South in batting average (.335), on-base percentage (.412), slugging percentage (.541), and doubles (17). Pitcher Cooper Criswell also has the most wins (6) in Double-A South.

Other notable stats include:

Record- 28-30, 3rd in Double-A South, North Division. 

Home Record- 16-12, 4th most home wins in Double-A South.
